Dangerous conditions exist whether the loading dock is vacant, or a trailer is in position for loading and unloading. When safety is a priority for your business, not only are you protecting your greatest asset, your employees, but you’re also extending the life of your equipment and minimizing costly product damage.

“We did our first installation that included Dok-Loks® and Safe-T-Lips® back in 2000. Since then, they’re required on every last one of our docks. Sure, it costs a little more, but if you spread out the cost over a 100,000 sq. ft. building, and then break it down per month, it doesn’t make sense NOT to install them. Prevent one injury, save one life, and the products pay for themselves.” — J.W. Ericson Construction & Landmark Development

    Loading Dock Fire Protection
Case Study: Rite-Hite Vehicle Restraint Prevents Catastrophe

Reduce Costly Falls with Drop-Off Protection

    PROBLEM:
Vacant loading docks create a dangerous 4-foot drop-off for dock personnel and material handling equipment.
    SOLUTION:
Safe-T-Lip®: The Safe-T-Lip® can be added to almost any dock leveler, and is a standard safety feature on most Rite-Hite levelers.

    SOLUTION:
Dok-Guardian™: A simple, easy-to-use safety solution to help stop a fork truck, pallet jack or dock worker from falling off a loading dock. Available in heavy- and light-duty models.
    SOLUTION:
Door Dok-Guardian™ : Protect employees and reduce door maintenance: Barrier will stop a 10,000-pound load traveling up to 4 miles per hour with little or no damage to the barrier or bottom door panel.

Dock Safety Invented (and Reinvented) by Rite-Hite®

    PROBLEM:
OSHA reports that a significant number of accidents occur during loading and unloading of unsecured trailers.
    SOLUTION:
    STR-4100 Dok Lok® Vehicle Restraint
    · Stabilizes trailer using durable hydraulic cylinders to minimize trailer drop, creating a smoother transition
    · Reduces whole body vibration to forklift drivers by restricting trailer movement
    · Like all Dok-Loks, helps to prevent catastrophic trailer separation accidents including:
    ---Unscheduled Departure
    ---Dock walk/trailer creep
    ---Trailer tip over
    ---Trailer upending
    ---Landing gear collapse

    Hot Lights Can Start Fires

    PROBLEM:
The incidence of loading dock fires has risen dramatically since 1999, resulting in dock seal and building damage as well as complete destruction of trailers and their contents. Research has shown that these incidents are caused by the heat build-up of standard trailer identification lights compressed into foam dock seals.
    SOLUTION:
FROMMELT INSULATOR™ Dock Sealing System, with Frommelt Firefighter® head pads, head curtains and optional side pads use exclusive, layered-foil heat dissipation technology to eliminate the possibility of fire caused by the heat of trailer marker lights. Fire-retardant foam Is NOT designed to keep a fire from starting. The Firefighter header seal is the ONLY FIRE RESISTANT dock seal product that can prevent a fire from occurring.

    PROBLEM:
Swing-out dock lights used to light trailer interiors can also generate intense heat that can cause scorching and burning if left close to or in contact with unprotected dock seal or shelter side pads.
    SOLUTION:
Frommelt HeatShield™ Protector Panels act as a barrier to prevent scorching and burning of unprotected dock seal or shelter side pads caused by the intense heat generated by swing-out dock lights.
